Hino Motor Sales (Thailand) Ltd. is continuous to arrange the Hino Smart Driver Contest into fifth years to seek for the best truck drivers who will be win the competition for the Royal trophy of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The Contest is to be supported and a sponsor by the Department of Land Transport, the Transportation Association of Thailand, public transport Association in Thailand, and business partners. In this year, Hino has opened the opportunities for female truck drivers to join the Contest and there are many truck drivers are interested to apply for the Contest.
This year, the opening contest and the competition were held on September 30, 2023. The contest was honored by Ms. Sirirat Veeravisan, Deputy Director of the Department of Land Transport, Mr. Pathompong Fakkhiao Director of Chachoengsao the Office of Skill Development and Mr. Apichart Prairungruang, the Chairman of the Land Transportation Association in Thailand (LTFT) to be chairman for opening the competition.
Mr. Ken Iwamoto, the president of Hino Motor Sales (Thailand) Ltd. said that, HMST has considered the gender equality issue and promoted gender rights this year. Therefore, everyone can fully show his or her potential capability which can create opportunities for women who want to join the truck driving career, and women who have already been truck drivers, so they can participate in the contest as well.
There are four female contestants and the contest has two competition segments which comprise of a 4-wheel driving truck, and a 10-wheel driving truck of semi-trailer. The contestants must drive pass 4 contest stations which have been developed from a truck driving course by the Department of Land Transport. The contest is to seeks the winners who are the best drivers that have knowledge on truck maintenance, traffic rules, driving skills, the awareness of social responsibilities, public responsibility, and the responsible to other drivers for travelling companions.
The contest is one of the great activities that Hino Motor Sales (Thailand) Ltd. is ready to become the leader to change the aspect of the commercial trucks to be an advantage for Thailand
transportation, and every transportation sector will be developed together.
